The rain I wait for tonight when, will you ever call,
I work the land but it’s been dry since early fall.
Strong hands have sown many seeds but nothing grows within,
No piece of grain but I hope that peace will come again.

Tonight, everybody will lay down their arms,
Tonight, everybody will be hand in hand,
Tonight, peace will rain, peace will rain, peace will rain, peace will rain.

Rain on the border and rain on, rain far and near,
Rain on the leaders tonight in hopes that they will hear.
Rain on the land then rain, everything within,
Rain on regardless of faith or colour of their skin.

Tonight, everybody will lay down their arms,
Tonight, everybody will be hand in hand,
Tonight, peace will rain, peace will rain, peace will rain, peace will rain.

Tonight, there will be no more fighting,
Tonight, for every one of us in every land,
Tonight, peace will rain, peace will rain, peace will rain, peace will rain.
